Founded in 2015, Kain Capital is a private equity firm that invests exclusively in control investments of US-based Healthcare Services and Healthcare IT companies. Since 2019 Kian has raised $434 million of equity for six platform SPVs (including two add-on rounds) and an imminently closing seventh platform. In five of these instances, they hold a majority stake and in the other two instances, they are the sole external investor with a sizeable (40%+) minority stake. Kain's LP base is composed of institutional investors (insurance companies and asset managers), well-regarded family offices, and smart money investors including three former heads of healthcare from the top five largest Private Equity firms. Kain invests in low-risk companies that are providing core healthcare services where underlying demand is stable and/or growing. It seeks to optimize the existing business through the prudent deployment of proven technology, delivering a combination of revenue and productivity growth with cost and margin improvement. Finally, this same technology deployment enables portfolio companies to evolve into new business models such as value-based care, where Kain companies can take on actuarial risk and generate outstanding venture-style returns. Kain believes technology enablement will change healthcare business models and finally create scale advantages that will force consolidation in several highly fragmented healthcare sectors. This technology enablement is a critical strategic advantage in measuring performance and managing healthcare businesses, improving the work environment necessary to attract and retain healthcare workers, and engaging patients more actively engage with providers to enhance the quality and cost of healthcare. Kain looks to partner with motivated entrepreneurs that want to remain actively involved in their businesses and embrace opportunities for transformational growth and change. To date, all of Kain's investments have been proprietorially sourced, with owners/operators that have rolled over significant equity and are highly aligned with our value creation model. They believe their approach will continue to self-select motivated operates who embrace change and share their vision for the future of healthcare. With every investment, Kian remains exclusively focused on growth. They do not utilize debt in their initial transactions and ensure that our operating partners are heavily invested in the business alongside them. They bring the financial and human capital required to generate significant growth while optimizing and customizing each investment to meet capital requirements and time horizons for all stakeholders. Based on the strong growth of the portfolio companies under Kian's management, they are seeking to raise their first fund in 2023/24. Kian is continuing to add to its investment team and administrative staff. They are looking at an initial fund size of $750 million - $1.25 billion with a vehicle that will enable additional direct investments from LPs.
